The first step

Why reach out?

People choose therapy for so many reasons and at different stages of their life. You may decide to reach out at a time of instability or of crisis. You may be having relationship difficulties. Your ways of coping may be giving you problems or cause difficulties for others. You may be at a major turning point in your life and reach out to help you navigate the changes. You may have trauma that you want to address or you may carry burdens from the way you were brought up as a child. You may experience barriers in your path and are reaching out because you are feeling discouraged. Whatever is taking place for you, please know that getting in touch is such a healthy and valuable first step!

How to contact me?

You are welcome to contact me by email. We can then arrange an initial appointment at a time that works for us both.

You may feel anxious before this first appointment – if you do, just to acknowledge that it is natural to feel anxious before a first appointment.

I hope it is useful to outline the 3 things that can take place in a first appointment:

We build a picture of what has brought you to this point of seeking personal therapy.

We attend to what it is like for you to be seated in the therapy room.

We set the scene for what therapy will involve if we work together.

Either during or after the session, it is for you to decide whether you want to continue with regular sessions.
