Professional Commitments

Over the past 27 years of work as a psychotherapist, my primary commitment has been to my private practice.

I am BACP Senior Accredited, membership number 14815.

I am also registered with the UKCP, Psychoanalytic and Jungian College, registration number 08159631.

I work within the Codes of Ethics of both professional bodies.

My commitments

  • To maintain the privacy and confidentiality of the therapy space. (The space is yours, for you to have your own thoughts and feelings and to share what you want to share).
  • To agree a fee that is realistic and affordable.
  • To be reliably present at the agreed time of sessions.
  • To do my best to tune in to all that is brought to the therapy space.
  • To respect the autonomy, individuality and decision-making of each person who chooses to work with me.
  • To affirm the value and importance of a person’s growth and development.
  • To keep an understanding of transformation, that through reflection even the most painful events in our lives can contribute to what we most value.

In the webpages that follow, I intend to make various reflections which are separate from the actual work that takes place in the therapy room. There’s a general question that I am asking which has to do with recovery processes with the cave as a central metaphor for all that can keep us locked in. For example, what has been the effect of lockdowns on sensing, processing, thinking and feeling?

Please don’t feel you have to connect with any of these reflections in order to work with me  – your therapy is about what you choose to take to sessions. If ever a reflection intrudes on personal therapy, this can be raised and thought about together in sessions.

At the same time, I am seeking to make connections through these webpages. I welcome people contacting me if they wish to do so.
